Vulyk – Buzzing Help

Volunteer group for Kharkiv humanitarian effort, Ukraine

About Our Humanitarian Beehive

“Vulyk” means beehive in Ukrainian. In our Vulyk, each team member is responsible for their part of the work, just like bees in a beehive.

We deliver targeted humanitarian aid -- food and medicine -- to Kharkiv and the region, the area in the East of Ukraine which has been under constant bombardment since February 24. We also help citizens to evacuate from the dangerous territories.

Our flow of aid is smaller than that of large funds operating in Ukraine. But being a smaller volunteer group is our strength. If we accept the order, we 100% deliver on it in a week.

Our Effort

  • Finding and supplying medicine, including rare and hard-to-get drugs

  • Food deliveries across all districts of the city

  • Evacuating people and their pets to Poltava, a safe place to the West of Kharkiv

Meet The People We Help

  • This lady is 92 years old. She lives with her husband in Saltivka, one of Kharkiv worst-hit areas. For our team, this dear lady is a legend. Despite the war and Russians bombing the house next door, she is not discouraged. This is the second war in her life, and she finds the strength to crack a joke.

  • These are the people from Maksymivka. This is a village in the Kharkiv region, where the government humanitarian aid is hard to get. So, we meet these needs ourselves.

  • And this is a man from the Kharkiv territorial defense. He ran out of insulin, so he turned to us for help.

At the beginning of the war, it was impossible to buy insulin in Kharkiv. There was no insulin in all of Ukraine.

Using our contacts, we were able to find a person who had a supply of insulin for himself, and we were lucky enough to buy a few doses for our defender.

Our Bees

  • Natalia

The head of the Poltava storage and refugee shelter. She buys medicine. Before the war, Natalia was a masseur. She lives in Poltava and has her own massage studio there. She was about to open another branch in Kharkiv and bought the property. The war thwarted these plans.

  • Alex

A bus driver. He delivers orders from Poltava storage to Kharkiv and buys products wholesale. Before the war, he owned a company selling roofing materials. Besides, he is a hunter and father.

  • Denys

The head of the storage in Kharkiv. He delivers targeted aid around the city. He also serves in a territorial defense unit. Before the war, Denys was a system administrator, triathlete, and prisoner of conscience.

  • Serhiy

Delivers targeted aid to Kharkiv and rescues people from dangerous areas. Before the war, he was an online store owner and realtor. In 2014, Serhii witnessed the beginning of the conflict in Donetsk, his hometown. He had to flee the occupied city and start all over again in Kharkiv. This time, when the new phase of war broke out on February 24, he could not leave and decided to help people in need.

  • Olha

Our physician. She verifies drug inquiries to ensure that they meet the standards of evidence-based medicine. Before the war, Olga worked as a physician in one of the Kharkiv clinics.

  • Olena

Manages requests, and systemizes them, looking for rare and hard-to-get supplies. Before the war, she was a Content Specialist at AltexSoft Technology & Solution Consulting Company. Besides, she is an archer and mother.

  • Yevhen

Brought these people together, coordinates the teamwork, takes care of them at the forefront, and communicates with donors. Before the war, he was a Branding Director at AltexSoft Technology & Solution Consulting Company and a triathlete.
